Oktoberfest — the timing is already in the name, even if the original in Munich actually starts in September (in the hopes of better weather). Throughout the month of October, many of our communities hosted or joined the fun.
The San Franisco Bay Explorers Group, for instance, brought a bit of Bavarian spirit across the ocean with their Oktoberfest in Sausalito on 19 October, tracht included. We love seeing so many Dirndl and Lederhosn!
And in Dallas, the Arlington Vibes! event of the Bar & Lounge Group coincided with the venue’s 22nd Oktoberfest celebrations. How lucky!
A laid-back atmosphere? Check. Great company? Check. Pretzels? Double-check. What more could you want for an event! The Thirsty Thursday Goes Oktoberfest official event in the Grenoble Community had it all in spades, letting attendees unwind and connect with one another.
Back in Munich, members also took part in the festive mood. The New Horizons Group came together for a fully booked visit of the Weinzelt to sample the Oktoberfest atmosphere and customary Bavarian dishes, from a Brotzeitbrettl to Kaiserschmarrn for dessert.
Meanwhile, the Munich Chillax Group went for a different perspective by climbing to the top of St. Paul Church. The reward for tackling 252 steps of narrow stairs? A great view of the festival grounds:
Can’t get enough of Oktoberfest? If you’re in Abu Dhabi, then you’re in luck! The Nightlife Group’s Oktoberfest Get Together is coming up on 26 October.
also falls in this month (10 October). First introduced in 1992, the day’s goal is to raise awareness and join efforts to support mental health — though the topic is of course relevant throughout the year!
And it’s also a popular theme among our groups, from a rejuvenating yoga session with the Lima Cultural & Miscellaneous Group to the Milan New Age Group’s invitation to join the Well-Being Festival at Melegnano Castle.
In Singapore, members of the Professional Singles Group got to disconnect and relax for an hour at a candlelit sound bath, while the London Mindful Women Group met for an afternoon chat and a cup of tea to discuss future event and travel plans.
Whether through sport or spirituality, meditation or more, we hope you’re looking out for your mental well-being. You’re worth it!
Hard to believe, but the end of October is not far off. And with it, one popular reason to go a little crazy and have fun: Halloween!
Some of our members have started early, like the New York City Around the Big Apple Group. Members joined the Halloween in the Upper East Side Historic District walk to view the many decorations put up by residents.
Or the Buenos Aires Cinema Lovers Group who went on a joint cinema visit to watch Beetlejuice 2 as a warm-up for Halloween and then discussed the movie over dinner.
Most Halloween events are still coming up, though! To give you a taste, here’s a small selection ordered by date:
In Izmir, you can join the October Vibes: Halloween Delights! official event on 25 October. Costumes are optional, but the fun is guaranteed!
Let the Luxembourg City Lovers Group take you on a Halloween Nightmare Tour of Château de La Roche-en-Ardenne on 26 October. Those who survive the ordeal will come together for some well-deserved dinner and drinks after the tour.
On the same day, you’re in for a treat (or a trick?!) with the Boston Arts & Culture Group. Members can look forward to a thriller of an event: the 80s Halloween Party at a Museum.
If you’re a fan of spooktacular venues, then you’ll be interested in the plans of the Hamburg Afterwork Group. On 30 October, they’re heading to Cap San Diego, a former cargo ship turned museum that’ll be decorated in style for one of Hamburg’s biggest Halloween parties.
On 31 October, the Tallinn Community’s Halloween Party promises to be a fun-filled night — DJ and costume contest included. In the words of the event hosts: “Ghosts and witches and creatures of fright don’t miss the call of Halloween night!”
