Watermelon and Feta Festival!
The Watermelon Festival (Γιορτή Καρπουζιού) in the village of Kastana (Chalkidona municipality, just northwest of Thessaloniki) is traditionally held as a two-day summer event ) Festivities feature music, dancing, food stalls, and famously, massive amounts of complimentary watermelon and feta cheese,watermelon games,watermelon sculptures. To plan your trip, consider the following:Location: Kastana village is located about 35 km northwest of the city center (via the old national road to Edessa/border crossings).Activities: Expect live traditional pontiac and folk music, a celebratory atmosphere, and competitions.Admission: Entry previous free, is typically highly affordable (around €2).
