Greece’s rich traditions truly come to life during carnival season, blending ancient customs with modern celebrations. One of the most special events is the Carnival of Naoussa, a powerful expression of Greek cultural heritage and the enduring spirit of its people.In Thessaloniki we will also experience this fascinating festival firsthand with our Istanbul IN members and friens—an amazing opportunity to explore and connect with cultures from around the world.
Every year during carnival season, the city of Xanthi comes alive with an irresistible, festive energy. For almost three weeks, the entire city turns into one big celebration, drawing everyone into a whirlwind of colors, music, aromas, and playful satire. After spending all of Saturday relaxing in the cafés and fish tavernas of our good old Kavala meet our friends and members from Istanbul we’ll head to Xanthi on Sunday to join the Grand Parade. This is when the city truly shines—spectacular floats and thousands of masked revelers fill the streets with music and vibrant colors, escorting the King of the Carnival. It’s an unforgettable experience, and honestly, it’s hard to describe unless you live it yourself. Fair warning: once you do, you might just become a carnival addict!
